A Characterization of the Randomized Uniform Rule
Kureishi, Wataru; Mizukami, Hideki - Graduate School of Economics, Osaka University - 2005
We consider the problem of allocating several units of an indivisible object among the agents with single-peaked and risk-averse utility functions. We introduce equal probability for the best, and show that the randomized uniform rule is the only randomized rule satisfying strategy-proofness,...

Wealth Heterogeneity and Escape from the Poverty-Environment Trap
Ikefuji, Masako; Horii, Ryo - Graduate School of Economics, Osaka University - 2005

The Estimation of Asymmetric Adjustment Costs for the Number of Workers and Working Hours |Empirical Evidence from Japanese Industry Data
Azetsu, Kenji; Fukushige, Mototsugu - Graduate School of Economics, Osaka University - 2005
In this paper, we investigate the asymmetry of adjustment costs for labour. Using monthly data on Japanese industries, we estimate a model of dynamic labour demand that incorporates adjustment costs for hiring and firing workers, and for changing working hours. Our estimates suggest the...

Hedonic prices and multidimensional incentives
Nakabayashi, Masaki - Graduate School of Economics, Osaka University - 2005
Human tasks are often multidimensional. Holmstrom and Milgrom (1991) concluded that ghigh-poweredh incentives cannot work unless all dimensions of these tasks are observable in the firm. However, as this study shows, if the firm can observe the price vector of its products in the market,...

Hashimoto, Hisashi - Graduate School of Economics, Osaka University - 2005
This paper introduces probability which represents symmetry transaction pattern into Roll [1984] and shows that the second autocorrelation for stockfs return is not necessarily zero. Glosten/Harris [1988] considers trader who symmetrically trades as information trader. Then I examine the...

The Effect of Education Subsidies in an Aging Economy
Mochida, Megumi - Graduate School of Economics, Osaka University - 2005
We examine how an introduction of education subsidies affects growth rates, incorporating an uncertain lifetime. We demonstrate that the introduction of subsidies engenders higher growth rates in aging economies, except when the education-tax rate is sufficiently low.
