Loading a lathe with the aid of a robot

Loading a variety of large shafts into a lathe has been identified as an arduous task suitable for a robot in the People's Republic of China. A simply controlled robot has been developed for this task.

A production experiment in cellular manufacture

A machining cell consisting of a gear shaper, an NC lathe, gauging stations and feed conveyors has been linked by an industrial robot for producing a guided missile body section. Particular care had to be taken to accurately position and locate the part into the two machine tools.

Dynamic control of industrial manipulators

A method for the synthesis of dynamic control is presented. The method is based on an exact modelling of manipulator dynamics and a relatively simple synthesis of control algorithms. The authors have applied the method to a UMS‐2 industrial robot.
