Values for the transport coefficients of a neutrino-antineutrino system
de Boer, W.P.H.; de Groot, S.R.; van den Horn, L.J. - In: Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications 94 (1978) 1, pp. 91-98
The transport coefficients of a neutrino-antineutrino mixture are calculated numerically in successive orders of approximation for various compositions of the system. A cosmological application is suggested.

Variational principles for calculation of transport coefficients of relativistic multi-component systems
Anderson, J.L. - In: Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications 85 (1976) 2, pp. 287-309
Variational expressions that give lower bounds on the transport coefficients of a multi- component relativistic system are derived from the set of coupled Boltzmann equations that are assumed to govern its behavior. No assumptions concerning the types of interactions that may exist between the...

Relativistic Boltzmann theory for a plasma
Van Erkelens, H.; Van Leeuwen, W.A. - In: Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications 89 (1977) 1, pp. 113-126
An expression for the entropy production has been derived on the basis of which it is argued that the choice of reference frame as proposed by Landau and Lifshitz is to be preferred rather than any other possibility.

Effects of confinement on a magnetized ideal gas II. The boson gas
Rino, J.P.; Rosa, S. Goulart - In: Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications 98 (1979) 3, pp. 601-612
The behavior of a confined magnetized ideal boson gas is examined. The effects of the dimensionalities of the system and the confinement potential as well as the effects of the field strength on the Bose-Einstein condensation are analyzed. It is shown that a phase transition does not occur in...

Faxén theorems for spherically symmetric polymers in solution
Felderhof, B.U.; Jones, R.B. - In: Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications 93 (1978) 3, pp. 457-464
We derive Faxén theorems for the force, the torque and the symmetric force dipole moment acting on a spherically symmetric polymer suspended in arbitrary flow. The results are immediate generalizations of corresponding theorems for a hard sphere with mixed slip-stick boundary conditions.

Dissipativity and the spectral property of the collision operator
Guo, Th.C.; Guo, W.W. - In: Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications 79 (1975) 1, pp. 120-124
It has been shown by the Brussels School that there is a physical representation in which the evolution of the density matrix reveals the dissipative structure. In this article, we present a two-dimensional model of the collision operator with a singularity at the origin which characterizes a...

Linearized master equations in the correlation-patterns representation
de la Rubia, J.; Brey, J.J. - In: Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications 80 (1975) 3, pp. 260-270
The evolution operator in the correlation-patterns representation is studied in the linear approximation. The linearized master evolution equations satisfied by the vacuum and the correlations are derived. The equations are applicable to inhomogeneous systems. The structure of the introduced...

Cluster variation theory for the isotropic-nematic phase transition
Lekkerkerker, H.N.W.; Debruyne, J.; Van der Haegen, R.; … - In: Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications 94 (1978) 3, pp. 465-473
In this paper, we extend the cluster variation theory for the isotropic-nematic phase transition to the three particle cluster approximation. Like in the magnetic case, for structures where there are triangles of nearest neighbours the extension from two to three particle clusters leads to...

Legendre transformation of a self-interacting polymer chain
Mooy, B.H.M.; Hijmans, J. - In: Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications 98 (1979) 3, pp. 442-466
The end-to-end distribution function for a polymer chain with self-interaction is derived from a functional having the significance of a generator for connected diagrams which consist of vertices representing clusters of monomers in contact, and lines representing free polymer sections. In spite...

Anomalous spectral regions in source theory
Ivanetich, R.J.; Tsai, Wu-Yang; DeRaad, Lester L.; … - In: Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications 96 (1979) 1, pp. 233-242
We generate a double spectral representation for a scattering process akin to Compton scattering, with particular emphasis on virtual forward scattering. For particular choices of particle masses and momentum transfers, the spectral region ranges over negative mass-squared values. These results...
