Estimating at least seven measures of qualitative variables from a single sample using randomized response technique
Lee, Cheon-Sig; Sedory, Stephen A.; Singh, Sarjinder - In: Statistics & Probability Letters 83 (2013) 1, pp. 399-409
In this paper, like a magician can show several birds flying out of an empty basket, we show that at least seven parameters of interest to a social scientist can be estimated from a single sample and one response from each respondent. A real survey data application is given.

Identifying Reticent Respondents: Assessing the Quality of Survey Data on Corruption and Values
Azfar, Omar; Murrell, Peter - University of Maryland, Department of Economics - 2005
Randomized response methods, which were designed to elicit candid answers to sensitive questions, have not succeeded in … eliminating reticence in survey responses. We implement a methodology that effectively stands the randomized response technique on …

Non-response bias
Berg, Nathan - Volkswirtschaftliche Fakultät, … - 2005
Non-response bias refers to the mistake one expects to make in estimating a population characteristic based on a sample of survey data in which, due to non-response, certain types of survey respondents are under-represented. Social scientists often attempt to make inferences about a population...

Making Use of “Benford’s Law†for the Randomized Response Technique
Diekmann, Andreas - In: Sociological Methods & Research 41 (2012) 2, pp. 325-334
In this article, “Benford’s law†is applied to the “randomized response technique†(RRT) to increase the validity of answers to sensitive questions. Using the Newcomb–Benford distribution as a randomizing device has several advantages. It is easy to explain and...

Efficiency comparison of unrelated question models based on same privacy protection degree
Giordano, Sabrina; Perri, Pier - In: Statistical Papers 53 (2012) 4, pp. 987-999
In this study, the problem of estimating the proportion π <Subscript> A </Subscript> of people bearing a sensitive attribute A is considered. Three dichotomous unrelated question mechanisms which are alternative to the well-known Simmons’ model are discussed and their performance is evaluated taking into account...</subscript>
