Plug-in vehicles powered by renewable energies are a viable way to reduce local and total emissions and could also support a highly efficient grid operation. Indirect control by variable tariffs is one option to link charging or even discharging time with the grid load and the renewable energy...

An economic lot size problem is studied in which a single vendor supplies a single purchaser with a homogeneous product and takes a certain fraction of the used items back for remanufacturing, in exchange for a deposit transferred to the purchaser. For the given demand, productivity, fixed...

Reducing disparities among regions within European countries is the aim of European and national structural policies. In particular, a European grant contributes to the German governmental program for equalizing regional unemployment. The goal is to bring it down to the national average by...

In this paper we introduce several classes of generalized convexfunctions already discussed in the literature and show the relationbetween those function classes. Moreover, for some of those functionclasses a Farkas-type theorem is proved. As such this paper unifiesand extends results existing...

In this paper we study the properties of the analytic central path of asemidefinite programming problem under perturbation of a set of inputparameters. Specifically, we analyze the behavior of solutions on the centralpath with respect to changes on the right hand side of the...

In this paper which will appear as a chapter in the Handbook ofGeneralized Convexity we discuss the basic ideas ofconvex and quasiconvex analysis in finite dimensional Euclideanspaces. To illustrate the usefulness of this branchof mathematics also applications to optimization theory...

In linear-quadratic control (LQC) problems with singular control cost matrix and/or singular transition matrix, we derive a reduction of the dimension of the Riccati matrix, simplifying iteration and solution. Employing a novel transformation, we show that, under a certain rank condition, the...
