한국의 소비자물가지수 편의 추정과 국제물가비교에 대한 시사점 (CPI Bias in Korea)

Korean Abstract: 본 연구는 엥겔곡선 추정방법론을 2000~2005년의 6년간 한국노동패널 데이터에 적용하여 우리나라 소비자물가지수의 상향편의(upward bias)를 최초로 추정하였다. 미국 등 기존의 실증연구에서 방법론으로 채택하는 AIDS(Almost Ideal Demand System) 수요추정식에서 선형추정식의 오류를 보완한 결과, 추정된 소비자물가지수의 상향편의는 연평균 0.7% 정도로, 동 기간 소비자물가지수 상승률의 21% 정도가 과도계상된 것으로 나타났다. 추가적으로 분석기간 동안 원화의 환율절상을 감안한 실질구매력을 실험적으로 분석에 적용한 결과, 추정된 상향편의의 일정 부분이 교역재에 대한 실질구매력의 측정 미비로 설명됨을 알 수 있었다
