2015 annual report on the European Union's development and external assistance policies and their implementation in 2014 : the report
This annual report for 2014 shows how the European Union maintained its commitment to promoting its core values of peace, security, sustainable development, poverty reduction and human rights worldwide. Work on the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals continued to ensure maximum progress before the deadline of the end of 2015, with significant progress in areas such as education, health and poverty reduction. In addition, development assistance was used to respond to particular crisis situations, notably the outbreak of the ebola virus in west Africa. The accompanying staff working document provides more detailed information on how the European Union in 2014 delivered on commitments, managed aid for results and implemented its geographic and thematic programmes. The material presented is a snapshot of the work carried out by thousands of people across the world in 2014, with the common objective of making the world a better place for all. Important challenges remain and provide the momentum for our efforts in the years to come.
