4th European Conference on Corporate R&D and Innovation: Financing R&D and Innovation for Corporate Growth in the EU (CONCORDi-2013)- Background Note

The document intends to summarise the state of the art related to the two topics of the CONCORDi-2013 Conference and presents the main research and policy questions to be addressed. Section 1 introduces the issue and the paper's structure. Section 2 highlights both the current academic understanding and the extent to which the selected papers reinforce, challenge and/or bring additional value to the existing knowledge. Section 3 summarises the current policy agenda in Europe to support corporate financing of innovation. Section 4 proposes a number of scientific and policy relevant questions for the Conference.
