The short concluding chapter summarises the key contributions of the book. First of all, it highlights the contributions in the context of research on Internet-enabled internationalisation. It highlights how the present study supports the positive effect of Internet marketing capabilities on export performance, taking into account their different dimensions. Moreover, the book stresses that this effect is highly contextual, depending on the technological, competitive, and institutional settings in which the exporters’ capabilities are deployed. The contributions to export performance research, in addition to focusing on digital capabilities as performance determinants, also include the exploration of how exporters can cope with environmental hostility under crisis conditions. The book also contributes to research on export location choices by considering broader portfolio choices and to business models literature by explicitly analysing digitalisation in the context of exporter business model characteristics. Finally, implications for managers and policymakers are discussed in detail.
