A decomposition analysis of manufacturing value added and structural change by industry and region, 1963 - 80

The author thinks that the 1980s have ushered in a period of uncertainty for the world economy. He shows in this study that during 1960s and 1970s most traditional manufacturing industries in Asia, Africa and Latin America had been growing steadily despite the shrinking shares of these industries in world total manufacturing production. The paper analyses structural change by industry in different regions of the world in both the industrial and developing countries. (DÜI-Sen)
