A Guide to the Alberta Personal Property Security Act
The Canadian Personal Property Security Acts are based on Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). A unique feature of the Uniform Commercial Code is that it is accompanied by an official comment that serves as a guide to the legislative provision. This feature is lacking in Canada. Although there are some law reform commission and government committee reports that provide legislative background, these have become out of date by virtue of subsequent amendment to the statutes. This guide to the Alberta Personal Property Security Act has been designed to fill this gap so as to explain the operation of the statute and to illustrate the operation of many of its key features
