A note on the distribution of the Wilcoxon rank sum statistic

We derive in this note a general recurrence formula for the binomial coefficients, a general recurrence formula for the distribution of the Wilcoxon rank sum statistic, and some simple exact expressions for the frequency fNj(r), j [less-than-or-equals, slant] 3, and for the number of partitions A0(r, n), n [less-than-or-equals, slant] 4.
