A Rugged Landscape Framework for Understanding Configurations.
Recurring patterns of correlation amongst variables that measure elements of a firm's environment, strategy and structure - termed configuratios - are empirically demonstrated phenomena. Still no integrating theoretical framework has emerged which successfully explains these recurring patterns. This papers draws upon recent work in the area of complexity theory for conceiving of and modelling complex systems of interdependency to propose an integrating conceptual framework for understanding configurations built upon a formal microscopic model of technological evolution.
