Alliance Portfolio Diversity as a Lever of Product Innovation
Most authors agree that alliance portfolio diversity has an inverted U-shaped influence on innovation performance. However, most studies rely on methods that do not control endogeneity. Our main goal was to investigate this relationship mitigating such limitations. Therefore, we proposed a longitudinal structural model based on alliance portfolio and absorptive capacity theories testing this interrelation, which should be reinforced at high levels of absorptive capacity. A sample of 1,326 Colombian manufacturing firms confirmed the hypotheses, supporting the mainstream theories in the barely investigated context of a developing country
