Analysis of bibliometric indicators for European policies 2010-2013

This study presents an analysis of bibliometric indicators measuring the quantity and impact of scientific publications produced from 2000 to 2013 in Europe and other parts of the world. The main goal is to support the development of European research and innovation policies. These indicators allow for a comprehensive analysis of the evolution, interconnectivity, performance and impact of national research and innovation systems in Europe. They also provide an overall view of Europe's strengths and challenges in knowledge production across fields of science. The study shows how the EU's 7th Framework programme for research (FP7, 2007-2013) contributed to the progress of the European Research Area (ERA) initiated in 2000 to ensure that scientific knowledge, technology and researchers circulate freely in the European Union.
