Analysis of labour supply function for self employed workers

The author notes that the labour supply studies for developed industrialised countries has reached a degree of theoretical and methodological sophistication during the last 15 years. He aims at developing an analysis of labour supply function for individual workers engaged in family enterprises in a developing country, Bangladesh. After presenting a labour supply model which is more applicable to the conditions of the labour market in this country, the author reviews the existing estimates of self-employment function for rural workers of Bangladesh and estimates labour supply function for self-employed workers in Grameen Bank financed enterprises of the country.
