This paper was written in full recognition of the fact that there has been little or no systematic research on the relation of monopoly and competition to invention/innovation and knowledge management under conditions of periodical monopolistic/imperfect competition and offers a novel approach formulated by researcher M.R.Kumara Swamy This study makes a detailed analysis of lags under abnormal business cycles and normal business fluctuations under situation of continued technical progress leading to furthering of productive capacity through progressive knowledge development via invention/innovation vis-a-vis fixed productive capacity via stagnated/regressive knowledge growth.
