Analyzing the Requirements of an On-Line Accounting Platform : The Views of Different User Groups in Greece

The ascent of knowledge economy and the advance of ICT have placed e-learning as a mainstream application by providing knowledge workers with learning experiences that are accessible, timely and affordable. Accountants constitute a professional group whose work has been significantly affected by ICT developments. However, existing literature is not extensive in taking stock of users' requirements regarding an e-learning accounting platform. The scope of the present study is to record how potential users evaluate the usefulness of a web-based platform operating as both an accounting educational platform and a job-seeking environment in the field of accounting. The study examines the characteristics that this platform should possess, and explores the different perceptions of four distinct target groups: students, academics, professional accountants and persons interested in vocational training. The analysis is conducted in Greece -- a country with a specific characteristics' accounting profile -- and is based on 451 answers on a structured questionnaire
