Attitudinal and behavioural determinants influencing decision makers when adopting integration technologies in local government
Over the last few years, the advent of innovativeor revolutionary integration technologies hasinfluenced pivotal decisions within top managementto strategically transform Local GovernmentAuthorities (LGAs). These technologies mayrepresent a huge cost for adopting LGAs, but mayalso offer the chance to achieve competitiveadvantage through superior service delivery. Withthe emergence of electronic Government (e-Government), LGAs are turning to integrationtechnologies to fully automate and e-enable theirbusiness processes and integrate their ITinfrastructures. While prior research on the adoptionof integration technologies in the private and publicdomain has considered several determinants (e.g.benefits, barriers, costs), little attention has beengiven to investigate the attitudinal and behaviouraldeterminants influencing top management’s decisionmaking process for the adoption of integrationtechnologies in LGAs. Notwithstanding, theimplications of this research have yet to be assessed, leaving scope for timeliness and novel research. Therefore, it is of high importance to investigate thisarea within LGAs and contribute to the area ofstrategic decision making by examining attitudinaland behavioural determinants of top management inrelation to integration technologies adoption.
