Australia’s artificial intelligence ecosystem: The second update

This is the second report about Australia’s AI ecosystem with the first being published last year in 2022 (NAIC, 2022). It has been commissioned by the National Artificial Intelligence Centre (NAIC) and delivered by a research team in CSIRO. Australia’s AI ecosystem is comprised of start-ups, small-to-large-sized companies, universities, research institutes, industry organisations and public sector agencies engaged in developing and applying AI technology. This report aims to provide a snapshot of the current state of Australia’s AI ecosystem and inform future strategy and policy decisions about its growth and development. This report contains information about companies, product innovation, investment, universities, research institutes and specialised capabilities relating to AI in Australia. It also contains information about the perceived challenges and opportunities for future growth and development of AI in Australia. The report aims to inform people in industry, academia, government and community spheres making decisions about AI capability uplift.
