Bimetallic Modified Mud Sphere Catalyst Enhanced Electrocatalytic Oxidation and Persulfate Advanced Oxidation for the Degradation of Sulfamethazine
The treatment of organic wastewater by electrocatalytic oxidation and peroxymonosulfate (PMS) advanced oxidation has attracted much attention. In this work, a bimetallic Mud sphere catalyst (Md-Cu-Ni) was simply prepared. Then, Md-Cu-Ni was used as a catalyst for electrocatalytic oxidation and PMS advanced oxidation to degrade sulfamethazine. The structure, surface morphology, electrochemical performance, and catalytic performance of the Md-Cu-Ni were characterized by a series of instruments. The electron spin resonance spectroscopy test results confirmed that Md-Cu-Ni produced a large number of •OH and SO4-•. The electrochemical workstation confirmed that Md-Cu-Ni had strong electrocatalytic activity and repolarization ability. The removal efficiency and mineralization rate by three-dimensional electrocatalytic coupled PMS advanced oxidation were 96.66% and 84.77% in 60 min, which was more efficient than that of three-dimensional electrocatalytic oxidation (removed 90.63% and 82.17% in 90 min), two-dimensional electrocatalytic oxidation (removed 66.85% and 48.21% in 90 min) and PMS advanced oxidation coupled with two-dimensional electrocatalytic oxidation (removed 77.68% and 61.17% in 90 min). Moreover, this method also has high degradation efficiency for other 13 organic pollutants. It was found that 16 intermediates appeared in the degradation process by LC-MS. It was believed that this work provides a new vision and idea for water treatment
