ChatGPT and Large Language Models : What are the Implications for Policy Makers?

This discussion paper aims to address the policy implications of emerging large language models such as ChatGPT. As academic researchers active in the field of AI research, we are uniquely positioned to understand the technology involved and to consider its potential implications. Given the far-reaching consequences of models such as ChatGPT, we believe we have a responsibility to take a leading role in highlighting potential policy implications to senior decision makers. A technology such as ChatGPT has the potential to impact a wide array of policy areas. We highlight some of those below.
