Critical points characterization using probability distributions
A renormalization-group-like method, developed in a preceding paper, is applied to characterize critical points in liquid binary mixtures. The method is based on the behavior of the probability distribution associated to these systems. Two examples are developed. In the first case (T-independent energy interaction between unlike molecules), the isomorphism with the liquid-gas phase transition is established. In the second one (T-dependent energy interaction between unlike molecules), the difference between simple and double critical points appearing in closed-loop phase diagrams is reported.
