Defining Power System Health - Process Towards a System Health Index
Power system health can be seen as the ability to adapt and to self manage. This paper tries to give a comprehensive overview of all relevant concepts that can help in defining power system health, such as drivers, performance and cost. Special focus is given to the physical and pricing dimension of security of supply, which represents encompassing concept in obtaining the balance between performance and cost. Moreover, there is an entanglement between power system health and asset management in defining the vital parts of power system and prioritizing decision making process. Furthermore, the ideas of creating a system health index and health plan algorithm are presented in a critical way, stating certain guidelines but also possible impediments in that process. In the end, the case study that analyses outage statistics in Swedish power system between 2009-2019 is presented, in order to emphasize the importance of data analysis in creating a global view on power system health
