Developing Indicators to Assess the Potential for Urban Regeneration: Improvements Using the 1991 Census of Population Samples of Anonymised Records
This paper explores possibilities for improvements in the quality of indicators to assess the potential for urban regeneration. A new source of data—the 1991 Census of Population Samples of Anonymised Records—is investigated. Refinements and improvements in the quality and targeting of indicators for the Single Regeneration Budget and other regeneration initiatives are recom mended. It is concluded that the 2 per cent Sample of Anonymised Records represents an invaluable resource supplementing the Index of Local Conditions and other databases as a source of information for regeneration based policy assessments.
