Development of unified design rules for steel sheet piles for introduction into Eurocode 3, Part 5

This project involved an extensive experimental test programme on steel sheet pile products together with geotechnical and soil-structure-interaction studies to create the basis of knowledge for the application of Eurocode 3 (resistances) and Eurocode 7 (actions) for the design of steel sheet pile retaining wall systems. Principles and application rules allowing the design of steel sheet pile sections have been suggested on the basis of the results from the experimental and numerical investigation. These design rules, which are in accordance with the principles of the Eurocode system, have been introduced in Part 5 of Eurocode 3 (ENV 1993-5).
