Die Wirkung der Kundenzeitschrift auf die Kundenbindung
Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich vorwiegend mit der Frage, ob Kundenzeitschriften eine positive Wirkung auf die Kundenbindung haben. Dabei werden verschiedene theoretische Zugänge zu Unternehmenskommunikation und Kundenbindung sowie relevante externe Einflussfaktoren berücksichtigt.
Das Thema Kundenbindung nahm in den vergangenen Jahren in Forschung und Praxis an Bedeutung zu. Vielen Unternehmen wurde klar, dass NeukundInnen-Gewinnung wesentlich teurer als die Bindung von KundInnen ist. Aus diesem Grund wurden zahlreiche Instrumente zur Kundenbindung entwickelt oder ausgebaut, darunter auch die Kundenzeitschrift. Sie soll theoretischen Ansätzen und Unternehmenswünschen zufolge nicht nur die Kundenbindung stärken, sondern unter anderem auch Image und Glaubwürdigkeit des Unternehmens verbessern. Verschiedene bisher durchgeführte Studien scheinen einen durchaus positiven Effekt der Kundenzeitschrift auf diese Ziele zu belegen. Methodisch sind sie aber nicht immer einwandfrei.
Möglichst methodisch einwandfrei wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit untersucht, ob eine Kundenzeitschrift sämtliche ihr „anvertraute“ Ziele – vor allem das Ziel Kundenbindung – erreichen kann. Zu diesem Zweck wurden die Mitglieder des Raiffeisen Club, die teilweise die Kundenzeitschrift Clubnews erhalten, zu einer Online-Befragung eingeladen. 712 Raiffeisen Club-Mitglieder füllten den Fragebogen vollständig und gewissenhaft aus. Um eine Wirkungsrichtung methodisch möglichst korrekt nachweisen zu können, wurden auch retrospektiv Daten erhoben, was einer Panel-Befragung nahe kommt. Zudem wurden verschiedene Vergleiche zwischen LeserInnen und Nicht-LeserInnen sowie EmpfängerInnen und Nicht-EmpfängerInnen der Zeitschrift angestellt.
Die Berechnungen deuten teilweise auf einen durchaus positiven Effekt der Kundenzeitschrift auf die Kundenbindung hin. Mithilfe der Quasi-Panel-Untersuchung konnte ein solcher Effekt jedoch nicht nachgewiesen werden. Sinnvoll wäre in diesem Zusammenhang eine echte Panelbefragung, um verzerrte Ergebnisse durch verfärbte Erinnerungen zu vermeiden. Erwiesen – und eigentlich selbstverständlich – ist, dass die Interessen der EmpfängerInnen eine wesentliche Rolle für die Nutzung der Zeitschrift spielen. Erst wenn die Themen der Zeitschrift auf die Interessen der EmpfängerInnen abgestimmt sind bzw. sich mit diesen decken, wird das Magazin gelesen und kann dadurch auch positiv auf die Kundenbindung wirken.
