Directing the personnel search part II: notes on contacting applicants

Purpose – This purpose of this paper is to expound on what makes for solid contacts with applicants. Design/methodology/approach – The paper discusses modes of communication, giving advantages and disadvantages for each, and then focuses on what can and should be accomplished through good communication during the search process. Findings – The paper finds that good communication practices with all applicants will both earn their respect and keep the process on track toward hiring the best fit for the position. Originality/value – The value of the paper is in learning how to use communication as a tool in the search process.
