Does Manufacturing Intelligence Remove Misallocation and Improve Aggregate Productivity? Analysis Based on Enterprise Micro-Data
Previous studies believe simply that manufacturing intelligence is just a kind of technological progress. This paper proposes that the impact of manufacturing intelligence on the economy and society is not only technical, but also has a particularly important impact on resource misallocation. The empirical results show that, on average, compared with enterprises that without robot adaption, the productivity of enterprises that use intelligence robots increases by 27.1%, and the dispersion of total factor productivity among enterprises decreases by 0.0817%. Using Bartik instruments method to deal with the potential endogeneity problem of the benchmark model, the placebo test was carried out, and the results were still robust. The research work of this paper is of great significance to accelerate the intelligence upgrading of China's manufacturing sector
