Electron-phonon interaction in carbon clathrate hex- <InlineEquation ID="Equ1"> <EquationSource Format="TEX">$\mathsf{C_{40}}$</EquationSource> </InlineEquation>
The electron-phonon interaction in Li-doped carbon clathrates hex-LiC<Subscript>40</Subscript> and hex-Li<Subscript>2</Subscript>C<Subscript>40</Subscript> has been investigated from first principles. Although the characteristic phonon frequency and electron-phonon interaction are large, the electronic density of states is relatively low which finally gives an electron-phonon coupling constant <InlineEquation ID="Equ2"> <EquationSource Format="TEX">$\lambda=0.46$</EquationSource> </InlineEquation> for Li<Subscript>2</Subscript>C<Subscript>40</Subscript>. Hole-doping is expected to provide higher T<Subscript>c</Subscript> than n-doping in hex-C<Subscript>40</Subscript>. Copyright Springer-Verlag Berlin/Heidelberg 2003
