Empreinte spatiale de la coopération agricole françise. &Un éclairage par l’analyse des structures de localisation
This paper aims to characterize the location patterns of agricultural cooperatives in France for 1995 and 2005, in order to better understand the determinants of their spatial organization. We first use the ESDA tools to establish a very detailed local typology of the specific location patterns of agricultural cooperatives. We then analyze the explanatory factors by means of a multinomial logit modeling. The results of that typology reveal that there are cantons which have a strong cooperative potential, and also that the localization patterns of that decade are stable. The strong cooperative presence is to be found in the major agricultural production areas. It is also close to towns, although that particular result depends on the size of the urban area.
