Essays on social contexts for prosocial behavior
vorgelegt von M.Sc.Felix Gelhaar
This dissertation studies the role of social contexts for prosocial behavior. Motivated by insights from psychology, preferences are assumed to be context-sensitive. The extent to which individuals are prosocial depends therefore on the social and economic context. This dissertation investigates two distinct aspects of social contexts. The first aspect is social information. In particular, the impact of how social information is presented to individuals and their own initial beliefs on prosocial behavior is studied. The second aspect is the interplay between interdependent reward structures and team synergies for cooperative behavior at the workplace.
