Sifarish is an act of achieving goals based on network connectivity, this kind of participatory relationship in administrative activities is evident in many parts of the world; guanxi in China, yongo in Korea, blat in Russia, and wasta in the Arab World are some of the items on display. This paper explores the effect of network-based favors both ethical and unethical on employees' morale and productivity. We try to establish the ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ use of Sifarish, based on its benefits in the larger public interest. For this we proposed a theoretical framework, using the conceptualization and classification of ethical and unethical sifarish done in the exploratory work of Nadeem & Kayani (2019), and explored their effect on Employee Morale and Productivity in the corporate sector of Pakistan. We also applied collectivist culture as a moderator in these relationships. We argue that ethical uses are classified as 1. Normative use, and 2. Affective ties would increase the employees' morale whereas unethical uses are classified as 1. Family, zaat, and caste, 2. Ethnicity and religion, 3. Family background, and 4. Political sifarish would lower morale and productivity. We also contended that collectivism would make these relationships more pronounced, in a way that the positive and negative effect of ethical and unethical sifarish on morale and productivity would be more severe in presence of collectivist culture. Empirical validity was established by conducting a survey using a close-ended questionnaire. Data was collected from 298 employees (men = 197, women = 101) working in various private sector manufacturing and service organizations within the city of Karachi, and analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and structured equation modeling. The result suggested that Family Zaat and Baradari, and Political Sifarish type of unethical sifarsh seems to have a significant negative effect on employee’s morale. On the contrary, Ethics and Religion, seem to have a significant positive effect on morale. This could be because of implicit coherence in the same religions of ethnic background. Moreover, the ethical use of sifarish does not produce any effect on morale. Furthermore, productivity was not influenced by ethical or unethical sifarish. The moderation analysis suggested that the effect of Family Zaat and Baradari, Ethics and Religion, as well as Family background on morale in weakened in a collectivist culture, as they seem too internalized and consider as amoral. Using social networking and social theory, this paper emphasizes the important aspects of the networks involved in Pakistan. In addition, the concept of the appropriate ethical application is used to create a distinction between the ethical and non-ethical parish. Therefore, this paper enhances the productive understanding of these informal networks in the organization through the conduct of employees
