Exploring Information Flow Issues during the Implementation of a Campus Management System
The Bologna Declaration is an impetus for the implementation of enterprise systems at Higher Education Institutions (HEI) – so-called Campus Management Systems (CMS). The implementation of such enterprise systems leads to a change of organizational structures. This is a challenge especially for HEIs. As the communication and the flow of information are essential in such projects, we explore aspects that have a negative impact on the information flow. Considering the specific organizational structure of HEIs, it is important (1) to understand the specific, decentralized organizational structure and (2) to assign tasks and roles to adequate employees that are ‘professionals’ or that are supported by ‘professionals’.
