Exploring the Relationship Between Binge-Watching and Executive Skills : A Correlational Study with Young Adults
Binge-watching is a prevalent behaviour among young adults that has raised concerns about its potential impact on cognitive and psychological well-being. This study aimed to explore the relationship between binge-watching and executive skills, which are essential for goal-directed behaviour and self-regulation. A total of 30 young adults (mean age = 21.5 years, SD = 2.9) completed self-report measures of binge-watching behaviour and executive skills. The results of a simple linear regression analysis showed a moderate to a strong positive relationship between binge-watching and executive skills (R² = .514, p < .001). However, further research is needed to understand the complex interplay between binge-watching and executive skills and to investigate potential mediators and moderators of this relationship. Nonetheless, these findings have important implications for the design of interventions and strategies to promote healthy screen time habits and enhance executive function in young adults
