Fostering Women Empowerment Through Handloom with Special Reference to Bodo Tribe of Kokrajhar and Chirang Districts of B.T.R
Weaving is not a gender specific work but traditionally it is practiced and performed mostly by the women. Governments of Bodoland Territorial Region, Assam and Central Govt. of India through several schemes have extended their services in encouraging handloom items. For a comprehensive development of a nation the Sustainable Development Goals envisioned by the UNO must be achieved by 2030. One of its most prominent goals is to get rid of poverty and establishment of industry for the infrastructural development. The role played by the women entrepreneurs for eradication of poverty and industrial developments will be discussed in this paper
