FROM TRAINING MANAGER TO HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER — NOT A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME!

A total approach to development justifies the change of title from “training manager” to “human resource development manager”, and this concept is discussed in the light of experience at Sony UK. Changes in business strategy brought about by increased competition and technological advance had company‐wide effects. The sequence of workshops, clinics and job clarification is described. Both problems and success stories are reviewed.
