Global change : towards global research infrastructures : EU support for research infrastructures in environmental and earth sciences

A major step took place in the European Research Area since 2006 with the inclusion into the ESFRI Roadmap of about ten pan-European distributed infrastructures aimed at atmospheric and ocean as well as the Arctic and plate observation. Two of them are more specifically orientated to the monitoring and research on biodiversity and marine ecosystems. The present document outlines the contribution of EU research infrastructures to the global network of research infrastructures needed for environmental research to address global change.
