Growth and training go in tandem at TPA : Development program wins national award
Purpose – Details how Trax Portable Access (TPA) doubled turnover and employee numbers in 18 months, while retaining its reputation for customer service, thanks in part to an award‐winning training programme. Design – Describes the induction training and other training programmes at the company, which helped it to win a UK National Training Award. Findings – Explains that the company created 38 new jobs, inducted those people into the firm, made them productive, and created opportunities for 23 people to progress within the company. Argues that the skills learned enabled the company to maximize the return on its investment in products and equipment, since investment in people, products and equipment took place in a co‐ordinated manner.Practical implicationsHighlights that impressive customer‐satisfaction figures were retained during a period of rapid expansion. Originality/value – Outlines the benefits of properly planned growth, with investment in staff going hand in hand with capital investment.
