Historical Interpretivism and Exceptionalism : A Case of Methodological Bias?

In the paper, we consider the methodology of choice of those who have constructed the classic 'exceptionalist' arguments (historical interpretivism). We ask the question: does the methodology itself bias the conclusions? Has exceptionalism as an analytic construct been over-inflated by the choice of methods used?
