Identification of NPD Process as a Problem Solving Activity and Applying Problem Solving Techniques Towards New Product Development

This research paper is going to explore the problem solving context of New Product Development process based on the academics evidences and models due to increasingly importance of this issues within NPD for firms that commit to introduce new products as shortly as possible and also take into account costumer oriented, cost reduction matters involved in NPD process. As a matter of fact , there are countless NPD problem solving tools to overcome the obstacles of the NPD process that is the other main part of this research paper to investigate how and when those tools should be applied towards stages and gates problematic issues. Ultimately, the application of an overall 3-dimensional view of NPD problems consisting of Product, Process, and Organization is introduced and showed how Design Structure Matrix techniques can be useful in this point of view in order to solve NPD problems.At the end of this research paper, a conceptual framework which integrates the presented models through chapter one to chapter four is constructed to illustrate how the problem solving tools must be applied toward NPD process according to the type of New Products
