IMAGE2000 and CLC2000 : products and methods

I&CLC2000 is a 3 years joint project of the European Environment Agency and the Joint Research Centre, co-funded by the European Commission and 29 participating countries, aimed to update the CORINE Land cover database (CLC2000) and to derive the spatial reference for Europe (IMAGE2000). IMAGE2000, under the responsibility of the JRC, is covering all activities related to satellite image acquisition, ortho-rectification and production of European and national mosaic. The EEA takes responsibility for CLC2000, covering all activities related to detection, interpretation and mapping of Land Cover Changes. This publication explains the organization of the project, methods used to create both databases and describes the products delivered. For those involved in the use and future updating of these European databases, this text will be a basic reference book.
