Implementing Algorithms to Measure Common Statistics

This manuscript is program documentation for three ways to calculate the mean, variance, skewness, kurtosis, covariance, correlation, regression parameters and other regression statistics. The traditional or "textbook" method passes through the data once to calculate the mean then accesses the data a second time to calculate variance, skewness, and many other statistics. Two methods are presented for calculating these statistics in one pass. The methods can improve speed, accuracy, and perhaps turn a problem too large to handle into a short algorithm
