Improving Enforcement Mechanisms in the Charitable Sector : Can Increased Disclosure of Information Be Utilized Effectively?

In this article, Professor Chester reviews the state, federal, and private means by which abuses committed by principals in charitable trusts and corporations are policed. He also reviews recent state and federal reform legislation, most of which has been put on hold and therefore not enacted. Finally, he concludes that increased standing for charitable donors and specially interested beneficiaries may be the most practical route to improving enforcement, given the lack of political will to enact comprehensive reform legislation
