Institutional environment, ideological commitment, and farmers' time allocation : the case of Israeli Moshavim

The author explores the effects of the institutional setup on the time allocation of farmers. He investigates Israeli co-operative villages (Moshavim) that implement co-operative ideology differentially. The author shows that variations in the institutional structure of Moshavim affected the time allocation of their members indirectly through the creation of a more or less favourable environment for agriculture.
