Kurz zum Klima: Seltene Erden: Chinas Weltmonopol bei Hightechinputs
Jüngst rückte weltweit eine Rohstoffgruppe ins Rampenlicht der öffentlichen Diskussion, von der viele zuvor noch nichts gehört haben dürften: die Seltenen Erden. Diese für moderne Kommunikationstechnologien, Umwelttechnologien wie Hybridautos, Solar- und Brennstoffzellen und sogar Rüstungsgüter unverzichtbaren Inputs werden zu 97% von China produziert. Diese Monopolstellung hält China zwar bereits seit etwa einem Jahrzehnt, deutlich spürbar wurden die Konsequenzen jedoch erst im Juli 2010, als China seine Exporte abrupt, um 70% im Vergleich zur ersten Jahreshälfte, kürzte. Gibt es Alternativen?
