Notes:
This report is the second one in a series of reports on available approaches and data sources. While the first report primarily addressed definitions, typologies, and data sources for landscape features at the EU level, this report aims at taking stock of the approaches used and the data available at the Member States. This synthesis, created with a strategic timing, allows to extract the lessons from the expiring programming period of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), that can be reused in the upcoming new CAP, both by the Member States and at an EU-level. The definitions, data and approaches assessed in this report have an important role in the Member States' activities supporting CAP implementation. Furthermore, the data and techniques applied in the Member States and their regions can also be sources of inspiration for EU-level solutions, even if they are unlikely to be directly used in EU level CAP context and impact indicators due to their lack of harmonization. The work on landscape features done by the Member States constitutes an important resource of methodological experimentation and testing within the context laid down by the CAP. A detailed synthesis of these 'tested solutions' can make the development of EU-level data streams and indicators more strategic and efficient. - Bibl. : p. 26
