Migration Patterns in Colombia from the Perspective of Network Theory
The present study focusses on analyzing the migration patterns in Colombia from a network theory perspective. The analysis is divided in two parts. First a model based on Network Theory that takes into account the migration process, has its most prevalent features, and gives a framework for the analysis is formulated. The second part involves the use of the data of 2005 Colombian Census to analyze the migration patterns in Colombia and in this way to find the dynamics of this phenomenon in the country. It was found that Bogotá and Valle del Cauca concentrate the largest reception of immigrants and that the majority of departments have more emigrants than immigrants
