Minimum Wage and the Quality of Export Products : A Capital-Per-Labor Deepening Response Strategy

By analyzing firm-level panel data, we study the effect of the legal minimum wage on the quality of export products in China. The results show that the minimum wage increase significantly improves export quality by encouraging enterprises to employ a more significant proportion of additional capital than labor. Our study provides positive empirical evidence to link minimum wage and export competitiveness
