Mobile Medical App Regulation : Preventing a Pandemic of 'Mobilechondriacs'

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration now regulates "mobile medical apps" on smartphones. As a result, new legal and compliance considerations arise from the FDA guidance for mobile app manufacturers whose malfunctioning medical apps may cause unexpected health problems. However, the benefits of using smartphone platforms to replace or augment traditional standalone medical equipment could significantly reduce health costs for patients and care providers.
